Honored to Be Named a 2024 Woman Technologist to Watch

Reflections on recognition, gratitude, and amplifying diverse voices in tech

Annie An Dongmei·January 2025·3 min read

I'm excited to share that I've been included in this year's Women Who Code 100 Technologists To Watch list. It's a humbling honor to be recognized among such talented individuals - and a moment that has me reflecting on the many people who made this possible. 🙏

Recognition is a team effort

This distinction doesn't belong to me alone. It belongs to every mentor who took the time to guide me, every manager who championed my growth, every colleague who collaborated and challenged me to think bigger.

I'm deeply grateful to Women Who Code for creating a platform that celebrates women technologists and the ecosystems that support them.

And I want to thank the incredible people who've been part of my journey: Andrew Mulligan, Joel H. Garcia, Conor McNamara, Priscilla Chong, Chelsea Lim, Sid Bhandari, Ivy Young, Marc Teichtahl, Eng-Hwa Tan, Sherrie Xiaoyu Huang, Ankita Kapil, Shannon Murphy, Santanu Dutt, Parijat Mishra, Paul Chen, Harley Young, Alejandra Artíguez, Arthi Jaganathan, Sandra Teh, Jenny Koh, and so many more.

Your support, your belief, and your example have shaped who I am as a technologist and a leader.

What this recognition means to me

Being named to this list is an honor. But more than that, it's a responsibility.

I see this as an opportunity - and a call to action - to amplify the voices of more diverse women in tech. To open doors. To share what I've learned. To make sure the next generation of women technologists has even more support, visibility, and opportunity than we did.

Representation matters. When we celebrate diverse leaders, we signal to everyone watching: you belong here, too.

Looking ahead ✨

I'm energized by the work ahead - building human-first AI systems, advancing agentic architectures, and helping enterprises unlock the full potential of GenAI. And I'm equally committed to doing that work alongside a more diverse, inclusive community of technologists.

Thank you again to Women Who Code, to my AWS family, and to everyone who's been part of this journey. Let's keep building, learning, and lifting each other up.
