Women Founders AI Lunch - Singapore

This Thursday, we're bringing together a curated group of women founders building in AI for something different - an intimate lunch conversation with no panels, no pitches. Just founders and builders sharing what they're working on. 🍽

Together with The AI Capitol, AWS is hosting a space for real connection and real conversation.

I've been thinking about how much of the best learning happens in small rooms, not big stages. The kind of conversation where you can ask the question you've been sitting on for weeks, or hear how someone else solved the exact problem you're wrestling with right now.

Why This Matters Now

Singapore has become a powerhouse for women-led innovation. The city-state now leads Southeast Asia with 936 women-owned startups, far ahead of Jakarta (173), Kuala Lumpur (107), Bangkok (67), and Metro Manila (62).

But the AI space tells a more nuanced story. Women in Singapore make up 28% of AI professionals, just slightly above the global average of 26%. The good news? Female enrollment in GenAI courses surged 253% in 2024, outpacing the 168% growth among men.

The momentum is real. But momentum needs community to become movement.

The Human-First AI Lens

Here's something I think about constantly: AI systems reflect the values and blind spots of the people who build them. Diverse teams don't just produce better products - they produce more inclusive and safer AI.

That's not a nice-to-have. It's foundational.

When we gather women founders building in this space, we're not just networking. We're shaping the future of AI itself - making sure it amplifies human judgment across the full spectrum of human experience.

Building the Ecosystem

This lunch is part of a broader shift happening across Singapore's tech landscape. The SG Women in Tech initiative celebrated its 5th anniversary in 2024, partnering with NTUC LearningHub to launch a Relaunch programme helping women return to tech careers.

These aren't isolated efforts. They're threads in a larger tapestry - one where women aren't just participating in AI, but leading it.

And that's exactly the energy we want in the room on Thursday.
