When Tradition Meets Technology, the Future Is Already Here
Reflections from the 2026 Chinese New Year Reception in Singapore

Last evening, I had the privilege of being invited to the 2026 Chinese New Year Reception at Shangri-La, hosted by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Singapore. 🧧 It was an evening that beautifully blended diplomacy, culture, and technology - from vibrant lion dances to reconnecting with leaders and friends across business and public sectors.
Technology Integrated Into Tradition
One of the highlights? Seeing innovation woven seamlessly into cultural celebration.
🔹 Humanoid robots dancing on stage and demonstrating Tai Chi with remarkable balance
🔹 Robot dogs dressed as lions, adding a modern twist to a cultural classic
I've seen humanoids and robot dogs showcased before multiple times, but seeing them again, interacting with them closely, still feels amazing.
AI and Robotics Are Becoming Visible
It sparked an interesting reflection for me.
AI and robotics are becoming increasingly visible - not just in industrial settings, but in public events and everyday environments.
The atmosphere reflected both celebration and thoughtful dialogue about the year ahead. And that's exactly the posture we need.
The Bigger Conversation
The bigger conversation isn't about who leads. It's about:
- How AI is becoming more tangible and accessible
- How robotics is expanding beyond factories
- How innovation intersects with culture and society
- How we ensure responsible and thoughtful adoption
As leaders and professionals, the question isn't if AI will shape our future - it's how we engage with it strategically and ethically. 🌏
Grateful for the Evening
Grateful for the invitation and the meaningful exchanges throughout the evening.
When tradition meets technology, the future isn't something we wait for. It's something we shape - together, with intention and care. ✨
