AI-Driven Networks at MWC25: Collaboration, Innovation, and What's Next

Reflections on Open RAN acceleration, GenAI-powered telecom, and the power of partnership

Annie An Dongmei·March 2025·4 min read

This year at MWC25, I witnessed something powerful: AI is everywhere, network APIs are unlocking new possibilities, and industries are coming together to create smarter, more connected solutions. ✨ The way we build and optimize networks is transforming - and collaboration is at the heart of it all.

Open RAN Meets GenAI: A First for the Industry

A major highlight was a leading Singapore enterprise's presence within the AWS area at MWC25 - a recognition of a truly unique solution: Open RAN acceleration powered by AWS GenAI-driven network operations. 🚀

Developed in partnership with the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), Synergy Design, VIAVI Solutions, and AWS, this marks a significant industry first. It demonstrates how AI and cloud technologies can enhance network performance and drive enterprise adoption in ways we're only beginning to explore.

This isn't just about faster networks. It's about reimagining how telecom infrastructure can be intelligent, adaptive, and ready for what comes next.

Conversations That Reinforced the Potential

We were honored to welcome leaders from IMDA, Delta Electronics, the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA), ST Telemedia, Sony, NTT, Telefonica Colombia, and many other global partners. 🌍

Each discussion reinforced the incredible potential of AI-driven networks - not just in optimizing performance but also in securing, scaling, and future-proofing connectivity.

What struck me most was the shared commitment across sectors: telecom, cybersecurity, enterprise technology, and government. When we bring diverse expertise to the table, we build solutions that are resilient, responsible, and ready for real-world complexity.

A Milestone Conversation with Netlink NBN Trust

Another key milestone was hosting the Chairman of Netlink NBN Trust and his senior leadership team. We had the privilege of exchanging insights on the latest AWS innovations in telecom - and I'm deeply grateful for their unwavering support over the years.

These are the partnerships that move the industry forward. They remind me that innovation isn't just about technology - it's about trust, shared vision, and the willingness to experiment together.

Gratitude and What's Ahead

None of this would have been possible without the relentless dedication of our colleagues, partners, and leadership teams. 🙏 To everyone at AWS for Telecom and our incredible partners - thank you.

As I reflect on this week, I'm energized by what's possible when we converge, connect, and create together. AI-driven networks aren't a distant future - they're here, and they're being built by teams who believe technology should amplify human ingenuity, not replace it.

More soon. 🙏
