AI Changed How We Judge - Lessons from SuperAI 2026
What happens when verification is automated and human judgment focuses on what truly matters
10,000 people. 150+ countries. Humanoid robots you could touch. SuperAI 2026 just wrapped in Singapore - and it felt like a glimpse of 2030. But the highlight for me? The NEXT Hackathon. 🏗️
200 builders. 36 hours. US$200K in prizes.
From zero to working product.
I had the privilege of being a mentor and seeing the judging process up close - and the winning ideas blew me away:
- 🔹 VeriClaims AI - a Verification-as-a-Service platform tackling e-commerce returns and insurance claims fraud
- 🔹 AI.Here. - connects your wearables and food-delivery account to give personalized meal recommendations based on live body data
- 🔹 BUNKERGUARD - agent-driven evidence verification for the $132B marine fuel trade
- 🔹 Bloom - an AI fashion companion that curates cross-brand outfits, renders them on your virtual avatar, with size intelligence
- 🔹 Willow - an agentic estate-planning platform that lets your family hear your voice after you're gone
These were built in 36 hours. From scratch. By teams of 2 - 4 people.
The quality and creativity amazed me.
AI changed how we judge
But here's what really struck me: hackathon judging used to mean hours of detective work - verifying claims, staying fair across all submissions.
In 2026? AI handles the verification layer, and humans reconfirm. A perfect combo of AI + Human.
Which means we got to focus on what actually matters:
- 🔹 The VALUE - does this solve a real problem?
- 🔹 The TECH - is the architecture sound?
- 🔹 The BUSINESS - who pays for this and why?
- 🔹 The CORE - what's the true innovation here?
AI didn't just power what the builders created - it changed how we decide and invest.
Verification automated. Judgment freed. 🎯
This is the shift I've been thinking hard about: when AI takes on the mechanical layer of verification, human judgment gets freed to focus on the questions that truly matter.
Not "Did they claim X?" but "Does X solve a problem worth solving?"
Not "Is the demo real?" but "Is the innovation defensible?"
That's the future I want to build toward - where AI amplifies human judgment, not replaces it.
To the builders 🙏
Massive thanks to the SuperAI team, AWS, and my fellow mentors and judges.
To the 200 builders who shipped real products in 36 hours - you reminded me why this industry is electrifying.
Have you noticed AI changing how you evaluate, decide, or judge? I'd love to hear your story.
We're entering an era where verification is automated and human judgment is freed to focus on what truly matters. ✨
